Origin & Selection – what lies behind our collections
From raw material to finished piece – many steps, many hands
Our ceramics are manufactured in several coordinated steps – from shaping the clay to final inspection. Although not all steps take place in small workshops, our production is based on established methods of traditional ceramic processing. In Portugal, in particular, a wealth of expertise has developed over generations, which is now combined with modern methods.
Each product goes through numerous stages: shaping, drying, initial firing, glaze application, and the final firing phase. Several specialists are involved in each of these steps. Thus, many hands touch each individual piece before it is finished. This close, manual control ensures consistently high quality.
Production takes place according to clearly defined quality standards that take into account both aesthetic and functional criteria. Differences in structure or glaze are not merely technical, but rather an expression of the respective production process.
Sustainability in production
A key consideration in the selection of our production partners is the responsible use of resources. Many of our manufacturers rely on modern combustion technologies with reduced energy input, heat recovery, and low-emission processes.
Most factories implement systematic waste management, reusing clay scraps and properly disposing of glaze residues. Closed-loop water treatment systems are also used. Water is purified, stored, and reused in the production process.
These measures help to keep the ecological footprint of our products as small as possible – without compromising on design or quality.
Curated selection from the Mediterranean
Not all products in our range are manufactured exclusively for mediteramics. Many pieces come from existing collections of our partner companies, which we discover during on-site visits. It is crucial that the material, design language, and workmanship meet our requirements.
The focus is on Mediterranean-influenced designs – with a preference for Portuguese ceramics. We also carry glassware from the Czech Republic and France, where glassmaking is practiced at a high technical level. Our selection is not random, but based on craftsmanship, design, and functionality.
Between classic craftsmanship and modern design
Our products are not only aesthetically pleasing but also suitable for everyday use. Most pieces are dishwasher-safe and durable for regular use – without losing their value. Colors and shapes are chosen to be easy to combine and remain trendy for years to come.
We focus on a balance of traditional forms and modern restraint. Clean lines, natural color gradients, and functional details ensure that our ceramics can be integrated into a wide variety of living spaces and lifestyles – whether as individual pieces or in a coordinated set.
What a product needs to become part of our range
Before a product is added to our range, we examine it in several dimensions: material quality, craftsmanship, suitability for everyday use, design, and origin. Only if all criteria are met does the piece become part of our product range.
This clear line is the foundation of our brand identity – and offers our customers the security of relying on well-thought-out, durable, and stylistically consistent products.
What we choose should not only be beautiful – but should also accompany, inspire and make the home a little warmer.
